Ianuae Magicae

Ianuae Magicae(eyan-u-aye ma-ji-kai) is what you name a game about teleporting when you run out of ideas and decide "Hey lets google translate that into Latin! Everything sounds better in Latin" What really sold us was how much italian style Google's voice put into it, just amazing. This project was done in a school game jam over the course of two days. The theme was "Teleportion" and being inspired by Portal, I wanted to make a game that would require you to teleport to complete "test". This was one of my first projects with the new unity 2d engine and was an interesting experience transitioning from the previous 3d only game engine as well as one of the first times where I was the only one with programming knowledge. Overall I really enjoy the concept of strategic teleporting as a gameplay element, and will try and come back to this in a future project, because this proved to me that this mechanic could make a fun game. My team and I would later win the game jam as well as a free tour of the Blizzard campus.

You use the WASD or arrow keys to move your character, and jump with space. You teleport to whatever you shoot to and swap place with it. Shoot things by pressing left click and swap with shift or right click. Various objects react differently to being swapped, certain pigs get scared and explode setting any nearby shrubbery ablaze.
